Carte de visite of Lieutenant Colonel Milton F. Collins, Co. F, Fourth Iowa Infantry, (standing in uniform right) and Sutler Greenville W. Pittman in civilian clothes seated on the left. Collins, a resident of Keokuk, Iowa, was 46 when he enlisted as Lieutenant Colonel, October 11, 1863, in the First Regiment Iowa Volunteer Infantry. The photograph is part of a group of images collected by Colonel John G. Hudson, 1st Iowa Infantry, African Descent, of federal soldiers and officers stationed at Helena, Phillips County, Arkansas, 1863-1864. Collins was wounded and did not survive the Civil War.
